Meredith Chaiken, Senior Analyst

Meredith Chaiken is an analyst at the Mellman Group, a polling and consulting firm whose clients include leading political figures, Fortune 500 companies, and the nation's most important public interest groups. She has worked on a wide range of projects with political, non-profit, and corporate clients. Meredith has done quantitative and qualitative research for a variety of clients including Governor Jennifer Granholm, Governor Jon Corzine, Representative Jim Marshall, Representative Jane Harman, the Maryland Democratic Party, and the DCCC, as well as organizations including the Leadership Conference on Civil Rights, DC Vote, Communities for Quality Education, and the Joint Emergency Campaign.

She has extensive on-the-ground political organizing and communication experience. In the 2004 general election, Meredith served as Political Director for Kerry-Edwards in Colorado, one of the cycle's surprise battleground states. Prior to traveling to Colorado, Meredith managed the “Faces of America” segment of the Democratic National Convention program. In the 2004 presidential primary, she served as Deputy Political Director for John Kerry in New Hampshire.

In addition, Meredith has expertise in statistical modeling and election projections. In 2006, Meredith developed sophisticated microtargeting models that precisely identified likely supporters and undecided voters for Jennifer Granholm’s re-election campaign. Meredith scored every voter on the Michigan voter file and determined which persuasion and GOTV messages would be most effective. In her prior experience as Research and Operations Manager at Voter News Service, she was instrumental in producing election projections for over 250 races over the course of the 2000 primary and general election cycles. As an economist at the Bureau of Labor Statistics, she published monthly employment data detailing job growth or decline in a variety of industrial sectors and geographic regions.

Originally from Oceanside, New York, Meredith graduated with a Bachelors degree with honors in Industrial and Labor Relations from Cornell University and has a Masters degree in Public Policy from Harvard University.
